Manchester United’s INEOS-led board has approved a £60m summer transfer for Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise. The decision comes after Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s acquisition of 27.7% of the club, giving his INEOS team full control of football operations and transfer decisions. Olise, 22, has a £60m release clause in his contract and is reportedly keen on a move to Old Trafford over Chelsea or Liverpool.
The right flank has been identified as a problem area for United, with Antony’s underwhelming performances and Jadon Sancho’s expected departure. Olise’s potential arrival could address this issue, with the club also looking to sign a centre-back and a new left-back due to injury concerns with Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia.
In the upcoming FA Cup quarter-finals against Liverpool, United could see the return of key players like Harry Maguire, Rasmus Hojlund, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka. Mason Mount, who has been back in training, will be given more time to recover. The club is focused on strengthening the squad for next season, with the approval of Olise’s transfer being just the beginning of their summer plans.
