Dortmund’s Decision to Keep Jadon Sancho After Champions League Success
Dortmund have expressed their desire to keep Jadon Sancho at the club next season, following his impressive performances in recent weeks. The England midfielder joined the club in January after a falling out with Erik ten Hag, and has since been a key player for Dortmund.
Sancho refused to apologize to Ten Hag for claiming he was a ‘scapegoat’, leading to his exclusion from the squad. However, his form has improved significantly, with two goals in as many games helping Dortmund progress to the Champions League quarter-finals.
Despite his success, there are doubts over Sancho’s future at the club as long as Ten Hag remains in charge. Dortmund are reportedly looking to negotiate with Manchester United for either a permanent move or a season-long loan for Sancho.
While his wages could pose a challenge for a permanent transfer, Dortmund are open to exploring long-term options to keep Sancho at the club. If financial constraints arise, a season-long loan deal is also on the table. However, United may demand a high loan fee and an obligation to buy as part of any agreement.
Sancho’s current deal with Dortmund runs until 2026, with an option to extend it by 12 months. The club is hopeful of retaining the talented midfielder and building on their recent success in the Champions League.
