PEP GUARDIOLA VOWS TO STAY AT MANCHESTER CITY DESPITE RELEGATION THREAT
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has made a bold statement, declaring that he would remain at the club even if they were relegated to League One. This comes as City faces the possibility of severe punishment for alleged breaches of Financial Fair Play rules.
Earlier this year, City was charged with 115 breaches of FFP regulations. While the investigation is expected to take several years, recent events, such as Everton’s 10-point deduction for breaking profit and sustainability rules, suggest that a punishment for City could be decided as early as next year. There have even been reports suggesting that the reigning Premier League champions could face relegation.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding the club’s future, Guardiola has expressed his commitment to Manchester City. He stated that he would not consider leaving even if the team were relegated to League One. In fact, he believes there is a greater chance of him staying if they were in League One rather than the Champions League.
Guardiola’s recent comments contradict his previous statements when City was first charged. At that time, he defended the club and vowed to leave if he discovered any lies. He emphasized the importance of representing a club that operates with integrity and does things properly, regardless of winning trophies.
It is not just Manchester City who could face punishment for FFP breaches. Chelsea has also admitted to breaking rules during the Abramovich era, although they hope that the change in ownership will protect them from severe consequences.
