Joao Felix’s shockingly low wages at Barcelona have been revealed, as the Spanish champions plan to give him a massive pay rise. The forward joined Barcelona on a season-long loan from Atletico Madrid on deadline day. Since then, he has scored three goals and provided three assists in eight appearances across all competitions.

However, reports in Spain suggest that Felix has been paid a relatively tiny wage during his time at Barcelona. As part of the deal, the 23-year-old was receiving an annual salary of just €400,000 (£345,000), according to Catalunya Radio. This equates to £6,635 per week. In comparison, his teammate Frenkie de Jong earns a reported £620,000 every seven days.

It is believed that Felix had to accept these terms in order to secure the deal, as Barcelona is currently facing strict financial limitations. The club has been selling off assets and slices of their future TV rights income to address their reported £1 billion debt. However, an agreement was included in Felix’s deal for his salary to be increased once Barcelona’s financial status improved.

Now, it is reported that Felix is set for a 900 percent bump in his salary. He will now be paid €4 million (£3.45 million) for the remainder of his stay at Barcelona. However, even with this increase, his new wages of £66,345 per week are still significantly less than what he was earning at Atletico Madrid.

Importantly, the change in Felix’s wages will not impact Barcelona’s compliance with Financial Fair Play regulations. This ensures that the club can make the necessary adjustments without facing any penalties.

Felix’s loan at Barcelona is set to expire at the end of the season, while his contract with Atletico Madrid runs until 2029. Prior to joining Barcelona, the Portuguese international had been linked with a return to the Premier League. After spending the second half of last season with Chelsea, several clubs were rumored to be interested in signing Felix. However, Manchester United reportedly turned down the chance to sign him in the summer.

In conclusion, Joao Felix’s shockingly low wages at Barcelona have been revealed, but he is now set to receive a significant pay rise. Despite the increase, his new wages are still lower than what he was earning at Atletico Madrid. However, this change will not affect Barcelona’s compliance with Financial Fair Play regulations. As Felix’s loan at Barcelona continues, it remains to be seen how his performances on the pitch will reflect his improved financial situation.
