Former Premier League Star Jason Lee Unrecognisable with New Look
Former Nottingham Forest striker Jason Lee has undergone a dramatic transformation since retiring from football in 2012. Known for his iconic hairstyle, which featured dreadlocks tied up in a knot on top of his head, Lee now sports a completely shaven head and a dark, bushy beard. Fans of the sport may struggle to recognise him at first glance.
Lee began his career at Charlton before moving on to Lincoln City for two seasons. He then played for Southend United before joining Nottingham Forest in 1994. During his time at Forest, Lee made 63 Premier League appearances and scored 12 goals. It was here that he became famous for his distinctive hairstyle.
After leaving Nottingham Forest, Lee went on to have a journeyman career, playing for 13 different clubs in English football. He retired from the sport at the age of 41 before having a brief spell in management with non-league Boston United.
In the 1990s, Lee’s hairstyle was mocked by David Baddiel and Frank Skinner on their TV show Fantasy Football League. Baddiel has since apologised for the sketches involving Lee. In a 2022 interview, Skinner also expressed regret for their behaviour, admitting that it had been a form of bullying.
Despite the negative attention his hairstyle received, Lee remains a well-respected figure in the world of football. His career spanned over two decades and saw him play for a variety of clubs across the country. While his iconic hairstyle may be a thing of the past, his contribution to the sport will not be forgotten.
