However, after scoring 23 goals in the following season, Yorke’s form began to decline. In the next two seasons, he managed just 13 goals in 54 matches. Thornley claims that Yorke’s party lifestyle took a toll on his performance, and he often turned up to training worse for wear. The former masseuse also revealed that Yorke’s eyes would often be yellow, indicating excessive alcohol consumption. Yorke left Manchester United for Blackburn in 2002 and went on to play for Birmingham, Sydney FC, and Sunderland before retiring in 2009.
