Everton manager Sean Dyche was full of praise for his side’s performance in their 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League. The Toffees put in an outstanding display at Goodison Park, with Dyche praising the attitude of his players.
“I thought the attitude of the players was outstanding,” Dyche said. “We were up against a very good side and we had to be resilient and that’s what we showed. We had to show a lot of spirit and character and I thought we did that.”
The match was a tight affair, with both sides having chances to win it. Everton took the lead through a Richarlison goal in the first half, but Spurs equalised through a Harry Kane penalty in the second half.
Despite not getting the win, Dyche was pleased with the performance of his side and believes they can take a lot of positives from the game. “We had some good chances and we could have won it, but I’m pleased with the performance overall,” he said.
The draw leaves Everton in 11th place in the Premier League table, but Dyche believes his side can still finish the season strongly. “We’ve got some tough games coming up, but I’m confident we can finish the season well,” he said.
Everton fans can watch highlights of the game on Match of the Day on Wednesday 5 April at 22:40 BST on BBC One, BBC iPlayer and the BBC Sport app. The Toffees will be hoping for a better result when they face West Bromwich Albion next weekend.
