In a thrilling Champions League match against Bayern Munich, Erling Haaland missed his first-ever penalty for Manchester City. The Norwegian striker had previously scored from the spot in all five of his attempts, but this time he completely missed the target. City was awarded the penalty towards the end of the first half of the second leg in Germany, having won the first leg 3-0. Haaland was tasked with putting his side 4-0 up on aggregate, but it took a while for him to take his kick due to an object thrown on the pitch by a fan in the Bayern end. After eventually being given the green light, Haaland sent his effort over the bar, much to the delight of the home fans. Despite missing the penalty, Haaland scored the opener on 57 minutes with an assured finish on the counter-attack, taking his tally to 48 goals for the campaign. City advanced to the Champions League semi-finals for the third season in a row with a 4-1 aggregate win over the two legs and will face Real Madrid in the final four.
