Gareth Southgate Names England Squad for September Games
England manager Gareth Southgate has named his squad for the upcoming Euro 2024 qualifier against Ukraine and friendly against Scotland in September.
Jordan Henderson and Harry Maguire Included
Midfielder Jordan Henderson, 33, has been included after leaving Liverpool to join Saudi Arabian side Al-Ettifaq in July.
Centre-back Harry Maguire also makes the squad despite not having played for Manchester United so far this season.
England to Play Ukraine and Scotland
England will play Ukraine in a Euro 2024 qualifier on 9 September in Poland, and Scotland in a friendly on 12 September.
The game against Scotland at Hampden Park is to mark the 150th anniversary of that fixture.
Eddie Nketiah and Levi Colwill Receive First Call-Ups
Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah and Chelsea centre-back Levi Colwill have been given their first call-ups to the England squad.
Raheem Sterling Absent Again
Chelsea forward Raheem Sterling is again absent, having been left out of England’s last two squads.

The games against Ukraine and Scotland will be an important test for Southgate’s side as they look to build on their impressive performances in recent tournaments, such as their fourth place finish at the 2018 World Cup and their run to the semi finals of the UEFA Nations League last year, where they were narrowly beaten by eventual champions Portugal on penalties after a goalless draw in extra time.
The squad will be looking to make a positive start to their Euro 2024 qualifying campaign with a win against Ukraine, before taking on Scotland in what is sure to be an emotional game at Hampden Park to mark the 150th anniversary of that fixture between the two nations, with both sides hoping to come away with a victory and bragging rights over their rivals in what is sure to be an entertaining game of football for all involved.
