Sky Sports has secured a new TV rights deal with EFL clubs worth £935 million, which will see the broadcaster continue its coverage of the league for the next five years. The agreement includes significant improvements for both clubs and viewers, with 1,000 matches to be either broadcast or streamed each season from 2024/25 to 2028/29. This represents a significant increase on the current 138 EFL matches that are broadcast each year. The deal also represents a 50% increase in value on the previous agreement held by Sky since 2018, which had caused concern among EFL clubs who believed their product was being undervalued. As part of the new deal, all opening, final day, and midweek fixtures in the EFL will be shown live, along with games played on Bank Holidays including Easter, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
