Eberechi Eze Suffers Serious Hamstring Injury, Michael Olise Also Out
Crystal Palace midfielder Eberechi Eze has been ruled out for a number of weeks after suffering a serious hamstring injury, while Michael Olise also remains sidelined.
Roy Hodgson confirmed the news, revealing that Eze had undergone a scan and that the injury is likely to keep him out for over a month.
The England international had played in Palace’s win over Manchester United last weekend but picked up the hamstring problem in the process.
“He has got a hamstring problem – he has had a scan on it and obviously we will have to wait on a second scan, but it is a serious injury,” said Hodgson. “I would prefer not to say [if it take five to six weeks to recover] because I’m optimistic on these things, but the severity of the injury might suggest it’s as long as that.”
Michael Olise is yet to play this season due to his own hamstring problem and Hodgson is not certain on when he will be back.
“[Michael Olise] is another one we are going to have to wait on,” he said. “Two of our most creative players, we are going to have to wait on for a period of time, and it could even be a considerable period time. We are going to be dependent now, really, on the players who have come in to take their places in doing a good job, which to be fair they have been doing.”
Odsonne Edouard is another Eagles star with a hamstring problem but his is not as serious and is in contention to play against Forest as he trained this week.
Crystal Palace’s Injury Crisis: What Does It Mean for Roy Hodgson’s Side?
The news of Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise being out for a number of weeks has left Crystal Palace with an injury crisis on their hands. The loss of two of their most creative players has put Roy Hodgson’s side in a difficult position, as they will now be reliant on the players who have come in to take their places in doing a good job.
The absence of Eze and Olise could prove to be a major blow for Palace, as they have been two of the most influential players in the team this season. Eze has been in fine form since joining from QPR in the summer, while Olise has been one of the standout performers in the Championship for Reading.
The good news for Palace is that Odsonne Edouard’s hamstring problem is not as serious as Eze and Olise’s and he is in contention to play against Forest. However, it remains to be seen how much of an impact the absence of Eze and Olise will have on Palace’s performances over the coming weeks.
