Donny van de Beek Delighted to Join Eintracht Frankfurt on Loan
Donny van de Beek is excited to begin a “new chapter” in his career after leaving Manchester United to join Eintracht Frankfurt on loan for the remainder of the season. The 26-year-old midfielder has struggled to make an impact at Old Trafford since his move from Ajax in 2020, failing to secure a regular place in the first team under managers Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Ralf Rangnick, and Erik ten Hag.
During his time at Manchester United, van de Beek made only 62 appearances and scored two goals, with just two outings in the current campaign. A loan spell at Everton in the second half of the 2021-22 season did not revive his career, but he hopes that the move to the Bundesliga will provide a fresh start.
The loan move to Frankfurt was confirmed on New Year’s Day, with the club having the option to buy him in the summer. Van de Beek expressed his enthusiasm on Instagram, writing, “New year, new chapter! Really happy to be part of this great club.” In a video message to Eintracht fans, he added, “I can’t wait to start and I hope to see you soon in the stadium. All the best.”
Eintracht’s board member for sport, Markus Krösche, praised van de Beek’s fit with the team’s playing philosophy and highlighted his international experience and goal threat. Krösche believes that the Dutch midfielder will be valuable in creating scoring opportunities for their forwards.
