Manchester United Fans Furious as Diogo Dalot Receives Bizarre Red Card at Liverpool
Manchester United fans were left seething after defender Diogo Dalot received a controversial red card during the team’s 0-0 draw against Liverpool. The right-back was sent off for two yellow cards in just five seconds, both for dissent, after protesting a stoppage-time throw-in.
Many viewers agreed with Dalot’s complaint, believing he was right in his protest. However, referee Michael Oliver dismissed him for his fierce remonstration and repeated offense.
Despite Liverpool’s 34 attempts on goal at Anfield, Manchester United managed to secure a point in the match.
Fans were not only shocked by Liverpool’s failure to score but also by Dalot’s “joke” sending-off.
One observer expressed their disbelief, stating, “Wait!! Was he given a yellow card twice for dissent? English refs have lost their minds.”

Another fan commented, “Booked twice for dissent. Making it up as they go along.”
Upon review, it appeared that the ball had come off Mo Salah last as he attempted to get past Dalot on the left side.
Dalot reacted with disbelief and anger when Oliver ruled against him.
This quick succession of double yellow cards is not new for referee Michael Oliver, as he had previously sent off Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli in a matter of seconds during a match against Wolves in February 2022.
Former England striker Dion Dublin criticized Oliver’s actions against Dalot, stating, “He was absolutely fuming. He was right, it was a Man Utd throw but he kept reacting. Two cards in the space of two seconds, ridiculous!”
Fans sympathized with Dalot’s loss of control, with one fan saying, “I swear. How can one control himself in situations like this?”
Another added, “Being sent off for dissent twice in a few seconds is crazy.”
