Football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo caused quite a stir in Madrid when he was spotted driving his rare £8.8million Bugatti Centodieci through the city. The luxury French brand’s most exclusive car is owned by just ten people in the world, including Ronaldo, who managed to get his hands on one of them. However, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner was unable to fully enjoy the 1,600 horsepower machine that can reach speeds of up to 240mph due to the swarms of fans surrounding the car.
Video footage shows Ronaldo climbing into the driver’s seat of the white supercar, protected by a bodyguard, while fans desperately tried to get selfies with him and chanted his name. The footballing icon then turned on the motor and gently rolled away with barely a noise from the massive eight-litre W16 engine. This was the first time Ronaldo was seen publicly driving the car he purchased last year.
The Bugatti Centodieci, which means 110 in Italian, was built as part of Bugatti’s 110th anniversary celebration. Ronaldo, a loyal customer of the brand, managed to secure the seventh car in the ten-car series, matching the number he has been synonymous with throughout his career. His model has a Portuguese registration.
In addition to the Bugatti Centodieci, Ronaldo also owns a Bugatti Chiron and a Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse as part of his impressive car collection, which includes Aston Martins, Ferraris, Lamborghinis, and Rolls Royces. However, he was not able to add Bugatti’s most expensive and prestigious car of all, the one-of-a-kind Bugatti Voiture Noire, which cost a staggering £9.69m up front before taxes, making it the world’s priciest car when it was created in 2019.
Despite false reports suggesting that Ronaldo had acquired the Voiture Noire, the car actually went to the family of former Volkswagen Group chairman Ferdinand Piech. Nevertheless, Ronaldo’s car collection is still the envy of many, and his latest Bugatti Centodieci is sure to turn heads wherever he goes.
