Community Work Helps Toney - Frank

Brentford manager Thomas Frank has suggested that community work in schools would be a more beneficial punishment for Ivan Toney than banning him from football entirely for eight months. Frank believes that this type of punishment would be more effective in helping Toney to understand the consequences of his actions. He also believes that the involvement of betting companies in football sponsorship needs to be looked at, in order to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future. This comes after Toney was diagnosed with a gambling addiction, which resulted in his ban being reduced. Frank believes that the involvement of betting companies in football sponsorship could be a contributing factor to the prevalence of gambling addiction in footballers.
