Watford manager Chris Wilder has criticised his team, labelling them as “physically and mentally weak” following their defeat to Cardiff City on Wednesday. The Hornets were leading 1-0 thanks to a goal from Ismaila Sarr, but quickly conceded three goals to the relegation-threatened Cardiff side. Kion Etete, Cedric Kipre and Sory Kaba were the scorers for Cardiff, who moved out of the drop zone with the win. Wilder expressed his frustration with his team’s performance, stating that they allowed the opposition to get back into the game and that they lacked the courage to dig each other out. He also criticised the players for playing out of position and hitting cross-field balls, which led to them losing their rhythm quickly. Wilder is expected to leave his post at the end of the season.
