Chelsea to receive £4m payment for failed January transfer
Chelsea are set to receive £4 million from Fulham as part of their loan agreement for Armando Broja, according to reports. The 22-year-old striker joined Fulham in the January transfer window to secure more playing time for the remainder of the season. However, Broja has struggled to make an impact, with no Premier League starts and only four substitute appearances.
According to MailOnline, Chelsea allowed Fulham to sign Broja for no fee on the condition that he played in 60 per cent or more of their remaining games. Broja will now need to start all 10 of Fulham’s remaining fixtures to avoid paying a £4m loan fee to Chelsea.
Broja is facing tough competition in Fulham’s attack, with Rodrigo Muniz in top form, scoring five goals in his last six appearances. Additionally, Raul Jimenez is set to return from injury, adding more competition for Broja.
Fulham manager Marco Silva has expressed his belief in Broja’s potential, stating that he needs time to adapt to the team’s style of play. Silva emphasized that Broja is working hard and has quality, but it will take time for him to fully integrate into the squad.
Despite the challenges Broja has faced at Fulham, Chelsea will benefit financially from the loan deal. The £4 million payment will provide a silver lining for Chelsea in what has been a disappointing loan spell for the young striker.
