Chelsea Set to Offload Noni Madueke and Other Players in January Transfer Window
Chelsea is planning to offload several players, including Noni Madueke, in the upcoming January transfer window. Madueke, who joined Stamford Bridge just a year ago, could be on his way out of the club.
Chelsea’s Expensive Summer Transfer Window
The Blues spent a staggering £450 million during the summer transfer window to bring in 13 new players. However, following their recent 2-0 loss to Everton, manager Mauricio Pochettino hinted that the club may need to make further moves in January.
Currently sitting at 12th place in the Premier League, Chelsea is already 18 points behind league leaders Liverpool.
Search for a New Striker
Chelsea’s top priority in the transfer window is to find a new striker. Napoli star Victor Osimhen and Brentford’s Ivan Toney are among the club’s targets. However, due to Financial Fair Play restrictions, Chelsea will need to sell players before they can make any significant purchases.
One player who could be leaving is 21-year-old Noni Madueke, according to ESPN. Madueke, an England Under-21 international, was signed from PSV Eindhoven last January but has struggled for game time under Pochettino, starting just one game this season.
Loan moves are also being considered for players like Madueke if the right offer comes in. Additionally, Trevoh Chalobah is expected to depart, with Bayern Munich, Roma, and Crystal Palace showing interest in the 24-year-old who has been sidelined with a thigh injury all season.
Ian Maatsen is another player who could be on the move. Burnley attempted to sign the full-back permanently during the summer transfer window, but a deal did not materialize. Maatsen has had limited playing time this season, making nine appearances from the bench, and Borussia Dortmund is reportedly interested in acquiring him.
