Liverpool have officially recalled Fabio Carvalho from his loan spell at RB Leipzig. The 21-year-old midfielder/winger joined Liverpool from Fulham in 2022 but struggled to find opportunities under Jurgen Klopp. As a result, he moved to RB Leipzig for the current season but only made 15 appearances, with just three starts and 360 minutes of playing time. Liverpool recognized Carvalho’s potential and are now considering their options for his future.
It is likely that Carvalho will be sent out on loan again, and there is already significant interest in him. Leicester City, who are currently leading the Championship and expected to return to the Premier League, are reportedly after his signature. Southampton, who are third in the table, are also said to be in the race for Carvalho. However, Liverpool will only loan him out if he is guaranteed frequent game time.
Carvalho already has experience in the Championship, having been named in the 2021/22 PFA Team of the Year while playing for Fulham. He scored 10 goals in 36 appearances as they won the title. Meanwhile, Liverpool is currently at the top of the Premier League and will have the opportunity to extend their lead when they host Newcastle on New Year’s Day.
