Jerry Yates, Blackpool’s top scorer, may be leaving the club following their relegation to League One. Despite scoring 14 goals in the Championship last season, Yates was unable to prevent the Tangerines from being relegated. Now, Luton and Coventry, both play-off finalists, are interested in signing the striker. Additionally, West Brom, Bristol City, and newly-promoted Ipswich have all shown interest in Yates. Although an unnamed club has had a £2.5million bid rejected, Blackpool is holding out for their £4m valuation. Yates won the Players’ Player of the Year, top scorer, and goal of the season awards at the club’s end-of-season awards ceremony after scoring 15 goals in all competitions. He still has a year left on his contract at Bloomfield Road with the option of another year. Yates has scored 42 goals in 124 league appearances for Blackpool since joining the club in 2020.
