Jakub Kiwior Welcomes Potential Arsenal Signing Jurrien Timber
Arsenal defender Jakub Kiwior has welcomed the potential arrival of Ajax and Netherlands defender Jurrien Timber at the Emirates Stadium. The Gunners are close to completing a deal to sign the 22-year-old, with personal terms already agreed and a five-year contract set to be signed.
Kiwior, who joined Arsenal from Spezia in January, is not concerned by the added competition in Mikel Arteta’s squad and wants as many top players to join Arsenal to help the club win trophies.
Arsenal Close to Completing Deal for Jurrien Timber
Arsenal are closing in on a move for Ajax defender Jurrien Timber. The Gunners expect to complete a deal to sign the 22-year-old in the coming weeks.
The first bid for the Dutchman was rejected but Arsenal returned with a second, improved offer over the weekend. While that is still believed to be short of Ajax’s asking price, there is a belief that the clubs will meet in the middle as Timber has his heart set on a move to north London.
Timber Agrees Personal Terms with Arsenal
Timber has agreed personal terms with Arsenal last week and is set to sign a five-year contract with the Gunners. The defender has made 121 appearances for Ajax and earned 15 caps for the Netherlands.
Kiwior Glad of Added Competition
When asked about the possibility of incoming signings, Kiwior said: ‘I’m glad there’s going to be more competition. Who’s coming?’ After being told that it looks like Timber will be heading to the Emirates, Kiwior replied: ‘It’s great that he’s joining. Let the best players play at Arsenal. Let’s win matches and win trophies together.’
