Arsenal Pursue Ex-Spurs Player for Ben White Rivalry

Arsenal have been keeping an eye on Southampton right-back Kyle Walker-Peters ahead of the summer transfer window. Despite Southampton’s poor season, which looks set to end in relegation to the Championship, the England Under-21 international has had another impressive campaign. Walker-Peters left Tottenham nearly three years ago in search of regular first team football and was close to joining Everton, but their lack of funds prevented a deal from being done. The 26-year-old has also attracted interest from Manchester United and Arsenal, who are keen to sign a new right-back this summer. Ben White has established himself as Arsenal’s first choice right-back this season, having started the campaign as a makeshift solution due to William Saliba’s emergence and Takehiro Tomiyasu’s injury. Tomiyasu is likely to return in time for pre-season training after suffering another injury against Sporting Lisbon in March, although his long-term future at Arsenal remains uncertain due to his questionable fitness record. The Gunners attempted to sign Ivan Fresneda in January and are likely to target him again in the close season. Fresneda recently spoke about his future, saying he admires Mikel Arteta’s work at Arsenal but prefers the style of play at Real Valladolid. Arsenal are also interested in RB Leipzig defender Mohamed Simakan, who can play both centre-half and right-back.
