Arsenal Eyeing Sporting Defender Ousmane Diomande Following Scouting Mission on Viktor Gyokeres
Arsenal is considering a summer move for Sporting defender Ousmane Diomande after he impressed during a scouting trip to watch striker Viktor Gyokeres in action. Gyokeres, who has been in superb form this season, has scored an impressive 36 goals in 39 games for Sporting since signing for a bargain fee of around £17m.
During a recent match against Benfica, where Gyokeres netted a hat-trick, Arsenal scouts were also impressed by Diomande’s performance. The 20-year-old defender received glowing reviews from the Gunners representatives and is valued at around £50m.
Diomande, who signed for Sporting in January last year for an initial fee of around £6.5m, has also caught the eye of Chelsea. With interest from multiple Premier League clubs, a bidding war could see his price rise significantly.
Arsenal will need to carefully consider their options this summer as they look to strengthen both their defense and attack. The Sporting duo of Gyokeres and Diomande could cost around £100m, with the Portuguese club reportedly setting an asking price of £43m for the striker.
Chelsea and AC Milan are also interested in Gyokeres, so competition for his signature could drive up the price even further. As Mikel Arteta plans for the upcoming transfer window, raising funds through player sales may be necessary to secure their targets.
