Arsenal Interested in Everton Midfielder Amadou Onana for January Transfer Window
Arsenal is reportedly keeping a close eye on Everton midfielder Amadou Onana as they prepare for the upcoming January transfer window. The Gunners’ manager, Mikel Arteta, is keen to strengthen his midfield options and has identified Onana as a potential target.
However, Arsenal’s top target for midfield reinforcement is Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz. Despite their interest, negotiations with Villa may prove challenging as Luiz is under contract with the club until 2026.
In light of this, Arsenal is exploring alternative options, with Onana being closely monitored by the Premier League leaders. Another player on their shortlist is Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha, although his age does not align with Arsenal’s recruitment strategy.
Amadou Onana has made a significant impact at Everton since joining the club from Lille in a £33 million deal last year. Manchester United had also shown strong interest in the 22-year-old during the summer transfer window, but he ultimately remained at Goodison Park.
Arsenal is not only focused on midfield reinforcements but is also targeting a new defender in the January window. Recent reports suggest that they are prepared to trigger the £51 million release clause to sign Sporting CP defender Goncalo Inacio.
