Manchester United winger Antony has responded to the unfair and malicious comments made by pundits regarding his performances. The 23-year-old has been struggling with confidence due to the team’s poor form this season.

Unfair Criticism from Pundits

Antony’s performances have faced scrutiny from various pundits and former players, including Gary Neville, Rio Ferdinand, and Paul Scholes. In an interview with The United Stand, the Brazilian international expressed his disappointment with the lack of support and constructive criticism from these individuals.

Antony stated, “Today, I see criticism coming from former club players and other people in the media, who unreasonably express their opinions and influence thousands of fans, sometimes even when I do not play. But I’ve never seen them give constructive criticism, which will help me be a better professional.”

Support During Turbulent Times

The winger also highlighted the absence of any messages or support from these critics during his period of turbulence. He emphasized the need for empathy and understanding, stating, “None of them have ever sent me a message to see how I am feeling, especially during this period of turbulence that I am going through.”

Admitting Unstable Form

Antony acknowledged Manchester United’s unstable form this season. He attributed the team’s struggles to the absence of key injured players. However, he remains optimistic about improvement with the return of these players.

About Antony

Antony joined Manchester United in a £85.5 million transfer from Ajax last summer. He has made 58 appearances across all competitions since then.

During the Manchester Derby in October, Antony faced criticism from United legend Gary Neville, who labeled his attitude as “embarrassing.” Antony had previously criticized City winger Jeremy Doku, leading to Neville’s comments.

As the season progresses, Antony hopes to overcome the challenges and prove his critics wrong. With the support of his teammates and fans, he aims to contribute to Manchester United’s success.
