Liverpool could only draw 1-1 at home to Aston Villa on Saturday, with too many players struggling in a flat performance. Jordan Henderson, Luis Diaz and Curtis Jones were the worst performers for the Reds, with Henderson’s inconsistent distribution and Diaz’s lack of touch proving to be major issues. Neil Jones of GOAL was particularly scathing of Henderson, saying he was “not up to scratch with or without the ball” and “did well to last as long as he did.” Meanwhile, TIA’s Henry Jackson thought Diaz “ran down blind alleys and lost the ball,” adding that his all-round touch is “not quite there currently.” Curtis Jones also failed to repeat his excellent recent form, proving to be part of a Liverpool midfield that was often out-battled by Villa’s middle men. Alisson and Virgil van Dijk were the highest rated players for the Reds, with both receiving an average rating of 7.0.
