Alex Telles Set To Reunite With Cristiano Ronaldo After Manchester United Accept £4m Bid From Al-Nassr
Manchester United have accepted a bid of around £4million from Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr for the transfer of Alex Telles.
The Brazilian joined United in 2021 in a £13m deal from Porto after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sought competition for Luke Shaw. However, Telles failed to displace Shaw and was sent on loan to Sevilla last term in a bid to play regular football.
Erik ten Hag focused on incomings last summer following the departures of Edinson Cavani, Juan Mata, Nemanja Matic, Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard – which were all confirmed before he arrived at the club. But the Dutchman is keen for a clearout this summer, particularly as the club need to raise funds in order to comply with Financial Fair Play rules.
Cristiano Ronaldo Attracts More Names To Saudi Arabia
Cristiano Ronaldo was the first major figure to move to Saudi Arabia following the termination of his Manchester United contract in December 2022. And Telles is set to reunite with Ronaldo after United accepted a £4m bid from Al-Nassr for the left-back.
The transfer could be worth around £7m with a series of add-ons. That’s a meagre fee considering some of the figures that have been paid by Saudi Arabian clubs this summer but United will be relieved to get Telles of the wage bill.
Manchester United Look To Offload Players
United will now look to offload the likes of Fred, Dean Henderson, Anthony Elanga and Brandon Williams, while they will listen to offers for Anthony Martial, Donny van de Beek, Scott McTominay and Harry Maguire.
The transfer of Alex Telles to Al-Nassr is yet another example of the power of Cristiano Ronaldo’s influence in Saudi Arabia. The Portuguese superstar has attracted a number of high-profile names to the country, including former Real Madrid teammate Gareth Bale and ex-Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera.
With Telles now set to join Ronaldo at Al-Nassr, it remains to be seen whether other top players will follow suit. It could be the start of a new era in Saudi Arabian football.
