Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s Threat to Break Rafael van der Vaart’s Legs at Ajax

Date:

During their time at Ajax, Zlatan Ibrahimovic threatened to break Rafael van der Vaart’s legs, according to the former Tottenham midfielder. Speaking to FourFourTwo in 2019, Van der Vaart admitted that he and the Swedish striker “didn’t get along” and that Ibrahimovic had made the threat to “everyone”. However, Van der Vaart added that he preferred to be in a team with honest people like Ibrahimovic, even if it meant there were occasional arguments. The pair played together at Ajax from 2001 to 2004, winning the Eredivisie title in 2002 and the Dutch Super Cup in 2003. Ibrahimovic now plays for AC Milan, while Van der Vaart retired from football in 2018.
