Liverpool are linked with countless midfielders ahead of the summer transfer window, as at least four head for the exit and the Reds are expected to bring in at least two and more likely three midfielders. Alexis Mac Allister has emerged as a primary target following the breakdown of a move for Jude Bellingham, while Mason Mount and Ryan Gravenberch are also heavily linked. Other names such as Moises Caicedo, Manuel Ugarte, Joao Palhinha, Matheus Nunes and Conor Gallagher have also been mentioned as potential targets. However, Youri Tielemans is the odd one out. Reports have linked Liverpool with a move for the Leicester midfielder, who is set to depart the club this summer, but he lacks the speed, engine and work rate required in Jurgen Klopp’s midfield. Data analyst @exceedingxpuns shared a graphic on Twitter that showed Tielemans had played the equivalent minutes at senior club level as the average 33-year-old professional. It is more likely that he has been continually linked with a move to Anfield as he is available on a free and a ‘big’ name.
