Jonny Castro Otto’s Wolves Future Hangs in the Balance After Training Incident
Jonny Castro Otto’s future at Wolves is uncertain following his exclusion from the training ground due to an incident. The 29-year-old Spain international was involved in the incident last week, which led to his exclusion from the squad for the team’s recent 2-1 defeat against Arsenal.
Wolves boss Gary O’Neil has confirmed that Castro Otto will not be included in the squad for the upcoming game against Burnley and potentially several more games. O’Neil stated that there was a training ground incident that is currently being dealt with by the club. He also mentioned that Castro Otto will not be available for the foreseeable future.
O’Neil did not provide further details about the incident, but he emphasized that such incidents are not uncommon in football clubs. He assured that the situation is being handled by the club and updates will be provided when Castro Otto is back with the team.
Jonny Castro Otto’s Recent Performance and Contract
Jonny Castro Otto, who joined Wolves initially on loan from Atletico Madrid in summer 2018, has made 134 appearances for the club in all competitions. However, his last appearance was on September 30 in a Premier League match against Manchester City. This season, he has played a limited role, primarily due to competition from other players in his position.
The 29-year-old full-back, who has recovered from two ACL injuries, is under contract with Wolves until June 2025.
Opponents Burnley and Wolves’ Outlook
O’Neil believes that Burnley, Wolves’ upcoming opponents, are in a false position in the league table. He praised Burnley’s performances and their organization both with and without the ball. O’Neil also commended Burnley’s transfer business during the window, which he believes has strengthened the team according to their coach Vincent Kompany’s requirements.
Wolves will welcome back two midfielders, Mario Lemina and Joao Gomes, from suspension as they prepare for their upcoming home games against Burnley and Nottingham Forest.
