Nottingham Forest Set to Sign Brazilian Winger Willian
Nottingham Forest are set to make Brazilian winger Willian their first summer signing after striker Chris Wood’s permanent arrival from Newcastle was confirmed in February. The 34-year-old former Brazil international made 30 appearances for Fulham last season and is currently undergoing a medical ahead of the potential move.
Forest made 30 new signings last summer following their promotion to the Premier League and Willian could be the first of many new arrivals this summer. The former Chelsea and Arsenal winger had been offered a new deal to extend his stay with Fulham, but he opted to move on and join the Cottagers on a free transfer after leaving Corinthians in August 2022.
Willian proved to be a key player for Fulham last season, scoring five goals and making six assists as he started 25 Premier League games for the West London club. He will now be looking to help Forest challenge for a top-half finish in the Premier League next season.
Forest begin the new season against Arsenal at Emirates Stadium on 12 August and Willian could make his debut for the club in that game if he completes his move in time. The club have been linked with several other players in recent weeks, including former Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren, and they will be hoping to add more quality to their squad before the start of the season.
Willian is an experienced player who has played at the highest level and his experience could prove invaluable for Forest as they look to establish themselves in the Premier League. He is a creative player who can create chances for his teammates and his addition to the squad could help Forest push for a top-half finish in the coming season.
It remains to be seen whether Willian will complete his move to Nottingham Forest, but if he does, he could prove to be an important signing for the club as they look to make their mark in the Premier League.
