William Saliba Commits Long-Term Future to Arsenal with New Contract
Arsenal fans have been given a huge boost with the news that William Saliba has signed a new long-term contract that will keep him at the club until 2027. The 22-year-old had been linked with a move away from the club, but the Gunners have managed to tie down the talented centre-back to a new deal.
Sporting Director Edu, who played a crucial role in negotiations said: ‘We are so happy to have signed a new deal with William Saliba. William is part of our vision to keep our talented young players, who will hopefully be successful with us for many years to come, so that we can grow and progress together. I know the supporters will be just as happy as we are to see William continue with us in the future.’
Saliba joined Arsenal from Saint Etienne in 2017 and had loan spells at Angers and Nice before finally making his first team debut for the Gunners at the beginning of last season. His impressive performances alongside Gabriel Magalhaes had helped Arsenal mount a title challenge until he was ruled out for the remainder of the season through injury in March.
Manager Mikel Arteta was delighted to have secured Saliba’s long-term future at the club: ‘To have William extend his contract with us was something we have wanted to do for a long time. William proved last season just how good and how important he is to our squad. The ability he has at his young age of just 22 is exciting, and there is of course so much more room for development with any player at this stage of their career. We’re looking forward to continuing to work with William in the years to come.’
Saliba’s new deal is a major boost for Arsenal and will help them build for the future. With the Frenchman now tied down to a long-term contract, the Gunners can focus on other areas of their squad as they look to build on their impressive performances from last season.
The news of Saliba’s new contract will also be welcomed by Arsenal fans who have been desperate to see the 22-year-old remain at the club. With his long-term future now secured, they can look forward to watching him develop into one of the Premier League’s top defenders over the coming years.
