William Saliba Mistakes Philippe Senderos for Everton Boss Sean Dyche
In a hilarious video with NBC Sports, William Saliba, the Arsenal star, was tested on his knowledge of former Arsenal players. However, he mistakenly identified Philippe Senderos, a former Gunner, as current Everton boss Sean Dyche.
Saliba’s Mistake
During the video, Saliba correctly named Alex Song, Andrey Arshavin, Yaya Sanogo, and Gervinho when shown pictures of the players during their time at Arsenal. However, when shown a picture of retired centre-half Senderos, Saliba mistakenly identified him as the coach of Everton, referring to Sean Dyche.
The interviewer corrected Saliba, saying, “No, no, it looks like him! This one is a Swiss defender.”
Philippe Senderos’ Career
Senderos joined Arsenal in 2003 and spent seven years at the club, making 116 appearances under Arsene Wenger. He also had loan stints with AC Milan and Everton during his time at Arsenal. After leaving north London in 2010, Senderos spent four years at Fulham before retiring from professional football in 2019. He was also capped 57 times for Switzerland.
Saliba’s Success
Saliba has emerged as one of the most important players in Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal side. He had a fantastic first full season in English football last year, helping Arsenal challenge Manchester City for the Premier League title. Despite suffering a back injury towards the end of the 2022-23 season, Saliba has been a constant presence in the starting XI this season, starting and completing all 12 league matches. He has also played the full 90 minutes in all four Champions League group games so far.
Upcoming Matches
After international duty with France, Saliba will return to Arsenal and prepare for their upcoming league match against Brentford on Saturday evening.
