William Saliba insists he’s ‘so happy’ at Arsenal and is keen to stay at the club.

The Frenchman has enjoyed a fantastic ‘debut’ campaign at the Emirates and has formed a good partnership with Gabriel in defence.

Despite joining the club in 2019, Saliba had to wait until August to make his first appearance for the Gunners.

The Frenchman’s deal was set to expire at the end of this season but Arsenal triggered a 12-month extension clause in December, meaning Saliba now has 18 months to run on his contract.

The fact that Arsenal triggered Saliba’s extension without him signing a new deal worried some supporters.

However, the defender says he’s happy to stay at Arsenal and that talks are progressing with his representatives.

‘I am so happy here,’ said Saliba.

‘The club is speaking with my agent and me, the only thing I can do is [focus on my football]. I am so happy here.’

Arsenal are currently focused on tying Bukayo Saka down to a new long-term deal, with the winger’s current contract also set to expire in 18 months’ time.

Saka, like Saliba, is happy to stay but the winger is searching a significant increase on his current salary.
