Piers Morgan joked Arsenal didn’t need to sign Mykhailo Mudryk anyway after Martin Odegaard’s strike against Tottenham.
The Gunners raced to a two-goal lead in the first half against Tottenham as they look to tighten their grip on the Premier League title race.
Hugo Lloris was guilty of a clanger after Bukayo Saka’s cross hit the Frenchman before going in.
Odegaard doubled their lead with a beautiful effort from 25 yards out – his eighth goal in the Premier League.
“0-2!!!!! Brilliant by Odegaard… who needs Mudryk?” Morgan tweeted.
Morgan’s joke comes just hours after Chelsea stole in ahead of Arsenal at the last moment to land Mudryk – who had been heavily linked with a Gunners switch throughout the month.
The Blues pulled off a dramatic transfer hijack by gazumping Arsenal’s offer and the Ukraine international was announced as a new signing midway through the 1-0 win against Crystal Palace on Sunday.
Morgan had earlier accused Arsenal of being ‘weak’ for allowing Chelsea to nip in ahead of them.
But the TalkTV host was in a good mood soon after as his side outplayed their rivals at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
He made a string of tweets as he revelled in Arsenal’s domination over their biggest rivals, posting: “Hadn’t realised just how terrible Spurs are this season. Most amusing.”
Another tweet saw him post a picture of Harry Kane as a young fan in an Arsenal kit, with the caption: “Oh Harry… BIG mistake.”
While the Gunners look in fine fettle, Tottenham have serious problems with a top four spot now looking more and more difficult.
