The Carabao Cup will reach its climax next month as English football’s first major final of the season is held.
The competition gives teams the chance to claim the first available silverware of the campaign.
Liverpool are the current holders of the trophy after beating Chelsea on penalties in February 2022 to end Manchester City’s run of four successive EFL Cups.
However, the Reds won’t have the chance to defend their crown, having suffered a last-16 elimination to Pep Guardiola’s City.
But City won’t be there either after a 2-0 loss to Southampton at St Mary’s.
With this year’s edition coming towards the business end as we reach the semi-finals stage, teams will now be eyeing up a place at Wembley.
When is the Carabao Cup final?
The 2022/23 Carabao Cup final will be played on Sunday, February 26.
It will be held at Wembley Stadium with the kick-off time yet to be confirmed, although last season’s final began at 4:30pm.
Which teams are still in the competition?
The Carabao Cup semi-finals have now been decided. The two-legged clashes will take place at the end of the month.
Manchester United and Newcastle booked their place in the final four while Manchester City were knocked out by Southampton.
Carabao Cup semi-final ties
- Southampton vs Newcastle
- Nottingham Forest vs Manchester United
First legs will be played on the week commencing January 23 while the second legs will take place a week later.
