West Ham United Squad Hit by Illness Ahead of Defeat Against Fulham
West Ham United’s squad was severely impacted by a sickness bug leading up to their disappointing 5-0 loss against Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday.
Outbreak of Illness
A number of players and staff members fell ill as a result of an illness that spread throughout the camp.
Pablo Fornals, who started the game, was one of the most affected by the sickness bug.
Manager David Moyes Affected
Manager David Moyes also fell ill, along with other members of the first-team squad. This included Edson Alvarez and Emerson Palmieri, who were both absent from the starting lineup.
Goalkeeper Alphonse Areola was also unable to play due to a wrist injury.
Fulham’s Emphatic Victory
Fulham, led by manager Marco Silva, secured an impressive victory with goals from Raul Jimenez, Willian, Tosin Adarabioyo, Harry Wilson, and Carlos Vinicius.
Upcoming Europa League Match
West Ham’s next match will be at home against Freiburg in the Europa League on Thursday.
