Broja spent the 2021-22 season on loan at Southampton in the Premier League and impressed during his time on the south coast, netting nine goals in 38 games across all competitions.
Southampton, who finished 15th last term, are also said to be keen on signing the 20-year-old Albania international on a permanent deal and will fight the Hammers for his signature.
Broja has been with Chelsea since 2009 having progressed through the club’s youth academy, but has made just one Premier League appearance for the first team, playing for four minutes.
West Ham, Europa League semi-finalists in 2021-22, qualified for the upcoming Europa Conference League after a seventh-place finish last season and have made Broja one of their top targets.
David Moyes’ side have already kicked off their summer spending, bringing in Rennes defender Nayef Aguerd for £30m on a five-year deal.
Chelsea, meanwhile, are keen on signing Raheem Sterling from Manchester City and Richarlison from Everton – which may allow Broja to leave for West Ham or Southampton.
The Blues are ready to offer £35m for Sterling – although the Premier League champions are looking for at least £50m to convince them to let the 27-year-old England international leave.
The 25-year-old Brazil international has been a mainstay at Goodison Park since his £50m move from Watford in 2018 – scoring 53 times across 152 appearances – and has told Frank Lampard he wants to move on this summer after helping the Toffees avoid relegation last term.
