# West Ham United Lose 3-1 to Manchester City Despite David Moyes’ Best Efforts
West Ham United’s Premier League campaign got off to a difficult start as they lost 3-1 to Manchester City at the London Stadium. Despite manager David Moyes’ best efforts, the small margins didn’t go in the Hammers’ favour.
## West Ham United’s Early Lead
West Ham United took an early lead in the match when Michail Antonio scored in the 11th minute. The goal was Antonio’s first of the season and put the Hammers ahead of the reigning Premier League champions. However, City responded quickly and equalised just four minutes later through Raheem Sterling.
## Manchester City Take Control
Manchester City then took control of the match and dominated possession for the remainder of the first half. The Citizens had several chances to take the lead but were unable to convert them into goals. However, they eventually took the lead in the second half when Gabriel Jesus scored in the 64th minute.
## David Moyes’ Frustration
David Moyes was clearly frustrated by his side’s performance and felt that they didn’t get many opportunities. He said: “We didn’t get many opportunities, and I think that’s been a problem for us in this game. We had some good moments, but the small margins didn’t go in our favour.”
## Manchester City Secure Victory
Manchester City sealed their victory in the 89th minute when Kevin De Bruyne scored from a free-kick. The goal was De Bruyne’s second of the match and secured a 3-1 win for the Citizens. The result leaves West Ham United with just one point from their opening two matches of the season.
