Nottingham Forest star Joe Worrall has hailed club owner Evangelos Marinakis and revealed he and his teammates are ‘buzzing’ after the signing of Jesse Lingard.
The Tricky Trees are back in the Premier League after a 23-year absence and are strengthening their squad ahead of the new season.
After losing key players from their promotion winning team, including goalkeeper Brice Samba, the club have set about snapping up a host of stars.
In total, 11 players have been landed, while Orel Mangala is set to make it 12 in the coming days.
Decent sums have been spent on Neco Williams and Taiwo Awoniyi, while Dean Henderson has arrived on loan from Manchester United for the season.
But the one that has everyone talking is ex-Red Devil Lingard arriving on a free transfer.
And Worrall believes it’s a great deal that has got he and his teammates excited.
He told talkSPORT: “Forest are a club that used to have, back in the day, international players playing for them, especially the European Cup winning team. They had many caps to their names.

“Jesse is one of those players who is very highly talented. He is someone who comes with a lot of experience as well. He is someone who is proven at international and Premier League level.
“He can score goals, he spent a couple of seasons out of the picture at Man United, went to West Ham and, bang, showed his quality straight away.
“Everyone knows how good a footballer Jesse Lingard is, we’re absolutely buzzing to have him.”
Given the turnover of players at Forest and their promotion, Worrall reserved special praise for the club’s owner Evangelos Marinakis.
But also warned his teammates they must improve or risk struggling on their return to the top-flight.
“I think the owner has been fantastic,” he told talkSPORT.
“He stood on the balcony overlooking the Market Square when we had our parade and said, ‘look, Forest aren’t here to make the numbers up’. He’s shown that by signing the players he has, spending the money he has, and bring in the calibre of player he has.
“Just to reiterate, everything is structured through the club. From the owner to the directors and from the manager to the players. The DNA of the club is something we need to carry on to next season.
“The season we had in the Championship wasn’t by luck, it wasn’t by just plucking players from thin air, signing them and hoping they were going to do well. Everything was calculated and all the players performed to their top level last year.
“But if we perform to the levels we did last year we will struggle because we were in the Championship. We need to go above and beyond and outdo ourselves this year and really go for the jugular because teams that sit back and try and limit damage usually get punished in the Premier League and that’s not what Forest need to be.
“Forest are a club that, if we look back through the years, we’ve had many international players playing for us, the likes of Stuart Pearce, Des Walker, and Peter Shilton. Players who are in the archives and the history in football, nevermind Forest. That’s the level we’re aspiring to.”
