‘We required to clean the squad’ – Arsenal chief Edu blasts old players ‘comfortable on lengthy contracts’ for KILLING club

    ARSENAL chief Edu slammed the ageing superstars who have been killing the club.

    Mesut Ozil and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang are among big-name stars who’d their contracts compensated up by Arsenal to depart.

    Edu stated: “When a player’s 26 or older, includes a big salary and isn’t performing, he’s killing you.

    “It’s much better than getting them blocking the road of some other player. It’s no problem if your player includes a big salary and performs.

    “I know it’s strange to visit the board and let them know, ‘Sometimes it’s &nbspbetter to pay for a person to depart rather than keep them’.

    “I understand that hurts and a few people state that it’s costly — but you need to go ahead and take problem out.”

    Since purge has ended, and £260.5million continues to be allocated to 11 hungry youthful players in the last year, Edu feels the club is who is fit.

    He added: “It’s important that people begin to see the direction we’re moving in.

    “Now there exists a plan and&nbspI always&nbspsaid to Mikel Arteta and also the board that 2022/23 would be the season we’ll considerably better.”
