Birmingham have put their faith in Wayne Rooney, appointing him as the new Birmingham City manager on a three-and-a-half-year deal. The MLS side elected to relieve Rooney of his duties following the conclusion of the 2023 regular season having finished ninth in the Eastern Conference. This saw the club fail to qualify for the playoffs for a second consecutive year.
