Vinicius Jr speaks out against racism in LaLiga

Real Madrid forward Vinicius Jr has accused LaLiga of being a racist competition after he was subjected to abuse during a match against Valencia. The Brazilian was sent off in stoppage time after hitting Hugo Duro in the face, but replays showed Duro had his arm around Vinicius Jr’s neck. The player sarcastically applauded the decision and gestured to the referee, before being restrained by teammates as he left the pitch. Vinicius Jr has been the victim of racial abuse on multiple occasions this season and throughout his career, and said racism is “normal” in Spain’s top flight. Valencia has launched an investigation into the incident.
