Vincent Kompany, the 37-year-old Burnley boss and Manchester City legend, has responded to claims that Chelsea are interested in bringing him to Stamford Bridge as their new manager. Chelsea are searching for a long-term replacement for Graham Potter, and Mauricio Pochettino is now the frontrunner to take over at Stamford Bridge. However, Chelsea are yet to make their final decision and could still try to poach Kompany from Championship leaders Burnley. The Belgian manager has won many admirers after guiding Burnley to promotion from the Championship in his first season at Turf Moor. Despite this success, Burnley are yet to secure their status as champions after taking just two points from their last three games and losing to relegation-battlers QPR on Saturday.
When asked about the speculation linking him with Chelsea following the 2-1 home defeat, Kompany said: ‘I’ve said I’m not engaging in any of these conversations. I have too much at this moment in time in my head in terms of wanting to win football matches. That’s the only thing I care about.’
