Aston Villa have agreed a deal to sign Leicester midfielder Youri Tielemans, with the Belgium international set to join the club on 1 July when his Leicester contract expires. Tielemans had been linked with Arsenal, Manchester United and Roma following Leicester’s relegation from the Premier League, but he will now become Villa’s first signing of the summer.
Tielemans joined Leicester in 2019 and has since helped the Foxes win the FA Cup in 2021, scoring the only goal in their 1-0 victory against Chelsea in the final. He has also featured at two World Cups (2018 and 2022) and Euro 2020.
The 26-year-old joins Villa after they finished seventh in the Premier League last season, securing qualification for the Europa Conference League.
