Virgil van Dijk Praises Jarell Quansah’s Development as Liverpool’s Defensive Option
Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk has commended the progress of fellow teammate Jarell Quansah, describing him as a “very good option” following Joel Matip’s injury. Quansah, a 20-year-old rising star, has made 10 senior appearances for Liverpool this season and has impressed both during pre-season tours and competitive matches.
Quansah’s Opportunity to Shine
With Matip’s confirmed ACL tear and his contract set to expire in the summer, Quansah is expected to move up in the team’s pecking order. Van Dijk expresses confidence in Quansah’s ability to handle the additional responsibility and believes the youngster has a bright future in the game.
“Every time he has had the opportunity so far, he has done well,” said Van Dijk after Liverpool’s recent victory at Bramall Lane.
A Promising Young Talent
Van Dijk emphasizes that Quansah, along with other young players training with the first team, needs to be ready to step in when required due to rotations, injuries, or suspensions. He praises Quansah’s eagerness to learn and progress, stating that if someone had predicted his current level of performance at the start of the season, he would have thought they were lying.
A Bright Future Ahead
Despite the disappointment of Matip’s injury, Van Dijk remains optimistic about Quansah’s potential. He believes that as long as Quansah continues to learn and improve, his future looks promising. Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has also shown faith in Quansah by giving him a Premier League start against Wolves in September.
With Liverpool’s history of defensive injuries, Quansah now has a significant opportunity to prove himself and make the most of his chance in the team.
