MASON MOUNT SET TO RETURN AFTER FOUR-MONTH ABSENCE FOR LIVERPOOL CLASH
Manchester United fans have reason to celebrate as Mason Mount is set to make his return to the squad after a four-month absence. The £60m summer signing from Chelsea has been sidelined since November 11 due to a calf problem. Mount’s injury has prevented him from showcasing his true potential at Old Trafford, but now he is ready to get back on the field.
Mount’s return comes at a crucial time for Manchester United as they prepare to face Liverpool in the FA Cup quarter-final. The 25-year-old England international will undoubtedly provide a huge boost to manager Erik ten Hag and the team as they look to secure a victory against their arch-rivals.
Since joining Manchester United, Mount has only managed to make 12 appearances and is yet to score a goal. However, his return coincides with the comeback of several other key players, giving the Red Devils hope of clinching silverware this season.
One player who has been making waves in recent matches is Rasmus Hojlund. The Danish forward, who was signed for £72m last summer, has finally found his rhythm in front of goal. In his last appearance, Hojlund scored a double, extending his scoring streak to six consecutive Premier League games. This impressive feat also earned him the title of the youngest player ever to achieve such a record.
Unfortunately, Hojlund’s hot streak was interrupted by an injury that kept him out of action for three weeks. However, he is expected to be back in the lineup for the clash against Liverpool, adding another attacking threat to Manchester United’s arsenal.
In addition to Mount and Hojlund, Manchester United will welcome back center-half Harry Maguire and full-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who have also been sidelined with injuries. Their return will bolster the team’s defensive line and provide much-needed stability against Liverpool’s attacking prowess.
On the flip side, Erik ten Hag will be without several key players for the cup clash. Defenders Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw, and Tyrell Malacia are all absent due to injuries, as well as forward Anthony Martial. Despite these setbacks, Manchester United remains determined to secure a victory against their rivals and progress in the FA Cup.
After the Liverpool showdown, Manchester United will have a break due to the international break before their next match against Brentford in the Premier League on March 30. Then, they face Mount’s former club Chelsea on April 4, adding an extra layer of anticipation to the upcoming fixture.
As Manchester United fans eagerly await Mason Mount’s return and the showdown with Liverpool, the team remains focused on their goal of winning silverware this season. With the return of key players and a renewed sense of determination, the Red Devils are ready to face any challenge that comes their way.
