ULM Fires Football Coach Terry Bowden
ULM, the University of Louisiana Monroe, has announced the firing of football coach Terry Bowden. This decision comes after a disappointing season for the Warhawks. Here are the key details:
Struggles on the Field
- ULM started the 2023 season strong with two victories but faced a downward spiral, losing their next 10 games. Their latest defeat was a 52-21 loss to in-state rivals, Louisiana.
- Terry Bowden was appointed as the head coach in December 2020. However, his tenure with the Warhawks has been marked by underperformance, with a record of 10 wins and 26 losses.
- In the Sun Belt Conference, Bowden’s team struggled, managing only 5 wins out of 19 games.
Reaction to the Firing
ULM athletic director John Hartwell expressed his decision to make a change in leadership, stating, “After a thorough review, we have decided to make a change in the leadership of ULM football. I want to thank coach Terry Bowden for all he has done over the last three years for our football program and our university.”
Hartwell has already initiated a national search for Bowden’s replacement. A news conference will be held on Monday at Malone Stadium to discuss this coaching change.
Looking Ahead
The University of Louisiana Monroe is determined to find a new coach who can lead the football program to success. The search for Bowden’s successor is underway, and the university aims to make a strong appointment to revitalize the team.
