It simply read: “My ambition is great. I want to be present at the World Cup and European Championships. I feel very motivated. My journey is not finished yet.”

Udinese goalkeeper Marco Silvestri saw the quote and cheekily asked Ronaldo to join his side following their flying start to the season.

The club’s social media team then got involved and posted eye emojis under Marco Silvestri’s comment.

Both the keeper and the club also made sure to tag the Portuguese in their posts to make sure Ronaldo was alerted.

CR7 was keen to leave in the summer but to a club able to offer Champions League football.

That ruled out Udinese at the time but they have made a positive start to their Serie A campaign and are third after picking up five wins from seven games.

Ronaldo’s future is still up in the air despite grabbing his first goal of the season earlier this month.

His United team-mates think he will be off in January with lucrative offers from Saudi Arabia on offer.

Serie A leaders Napoli could also try to tempt Ronaldo into a move after showing interest in the forward in the summer.

They have made an equally fast start to their Champions League campaign too, winning two out of two matches including a 4-1 thumping of Liverpool.

Ronaldo had a successful spell in Italy with Juventus prior to his Old Trafford return, scoring 101 goals in 134 games for the Old Lady.

So a return to Serie A could certainly appeal to Ronaldo.
