Trevoh Chalobah on Chelsea Injury Crisis

Trevoh Chalobah distances himself from claims Chelsea are ‘an absolute mess’

Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah has distanced himself from claims from a ‘personal trainer’ labelling the club ‘an absolute mess’. A private Instagram message from a personal trainer named Ed Hodge was leaked on social media last week before being quickly deleted.

Hodge appeared to slam Chelsea’s medical staff, pinning the blame for the club’s current injury crisis on them.

What did the message say?

The message also suggested a reason why injuries have been racking up at Stamford Bridge. ‘Trev [Chalobah] has a hammie injury… should be back to 90 per cent sprint ability by end of this week,’ the message read.

‘Most of the injuries are because the players have been loading muscles time and time again without lengthening them simultaneously… then one lunge into a tackle, or a COD too rapidly and they’re injured.

‘Hardly any of them do reformer pilates or terrain work It’s an absolute mess at the moment, bro.’

What did Chalobah say?

Reports have suggested Chalobah’s trainer will no longer be back inside Chelsea’s facilities after the messaged was leaked. But speaking out on the messages, the Blues defender wrote on Twitter: ‘He is not my PT’.

What is Chelsea’s current injury crisis?

Chalobah has missed the opening five games of the new season with a hamstring problem, one of 11 first-team players who have been or still are sidelined through injury.

Christopher Nkunku and Wesley Fofana are long-term absentees with Reece James, Carney Chukwuemeka, Trevoh Chalobah also unavailable.

Armando Broja, who was sidelined with a knee injury last December, is pushing to make his comeback this weekend with Noni Madueke and Marc Cucurella also hoping to be available.

Romeo Lavia is yet to play for the club since his £58million move from Southampton in the summer and is not expected to return before October’s international break after suffering an ankle injury.

£115million summer signing Moises Caicedo also missed the goalless draw against Bournemouth after returning from international duty with Ecuador with a knock.

Chelsea’s start to the season

Chelsea have taken just five points from their opening five games this season with their only victory coming over newly promoted Luton Town at home.

Conclusion

It remains to be seen whether Chelsea’s injury crisis will improve in the coming weeks, but one thing is certain: Trevoh Chalobah has distanced himself from claims that the club is an ‘absolute mess’.
